There's a snake in my house!

Well, not really. But close enough. The other day my husband found a snakeskin near the front door and it looks like the snake has taken up residence under the sidewalk there. (Insert running and screaming here). I have always been terrified of snakes. Not, "oh, I don't really like them" but absolutely, horrifically, terrified of them. I was honestly so frightened of moving to Texas that I had to have a big talk with the Lord about all those snakes (which I of course imagined were going to be all over my yard, at the playground, at Target etc. ) And the Lord very sweetly told me, "I am in control of the beasts Conni, fear not." And I will tell you this, I have lived here now for eight years, and I have yet to see a live, wild snake. Not once. Why do we fear? Our God is bigger than our fears. I've heard it said that there are 365 "Fear Nots" in the Bible. If this is true then how beautiful is that? Our Abba loves us so much that he wants to reassure us every day that He is in control. The wind and the waves cannot consume us, the enemy may stomp around and try to frighten us, but the Creator of this universe has us securely in the palm of His hand. Think of that. In the palm of His hand. "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:39) And when I have fears--fear of failure, fear of putting my writing out there, fear of the unknown--I must remember that there is nothing to fear, because there is nothing in this life that can separate me from Christ. There will be storms, there will be illness, there will be failure, there will be snakes, but we are commanded, not politely requested, but commanded, to "Fear Not!" So I will walk in the promise the Lord gave me eight years ago, He is in control of the beasts, and trust that even if I do encounter one ((shivers)) I have no reason to fear. And maybe, look into getting that sidewalk sealed up.... What do you fear? How has the Lord calmed those fears?
